Midway Hotel Key

My husband's grandparents owned the Midway Hotel. What I would give to have seen the place! From stories I've heard, it sounds like a magical summer retreat where families would return year after year.

We have this old key from Room 38.

I took the picture below from the porch of our cottage. The Midway Hotel stood between our cottage and the lake, and at the time, there were no docks in front of the hotel.  The beach for the hotel, which would be directly to the left of the photo, can be seen in the old postcard on this blog's header.

Unfortunately, the hotel was torn down in 1967, before my husband was even born. We keep this old key hanging on a nail in our cottage.
